About This Role

Position Summary

The Training System Integrated Solution Leader (ISL) is part of a small team of senior training development experts responsible for designing complete end-to-end solutions for training systems used by defense forces and para-military organizations worldwide. This role leverages CAE’s core simulation technologies along with best-in-class teaching methodologies and tools. The targeted end-user base includes the air, naval, and land forces domains.

In collaboration with CAE’s global network of domain experts and industry partners, the ISL leads the definition of training solutions early in the customer needs process, helping shape requirements for comprehensive training programs that may include individual, team, and collective training.

The ISL ensures that the integrated training solutions deliver state-of-the-art, cost-effective training tailored to customer requirements throughout the training program lifecycle. These solutions encompass the full training continuum, from academic and synthetic simulation-based training to full live-virtual-constructive (LVC) environments supporting complex mission rehearsal scenarios.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of fully integrated Training Solutions from initial customer engagement (pre-RFP), through capture and proposal phases, to contract award.
  • Serve as the primary focal point and Design Authority on training solutions for all stakeholders, including customers and end-users.
  • Participate in defining training product R&D roadmaps to meet current and future customer needs, utilizing best-in-class learning methodologies and tools while controlling costs.
  • Provide leadership to Capture Teams on large training system integration opportunities, developing various aspects of proposed solutions.
  • Oversee initial Training Tasks, including needs analysis, media analysis, and curriculum design, in collaboration with technical leads, SMEs, and customer authorities.
  • Leverage CAE technologies, standard products, and subcontractor capabilities to design cohesive, optimal training solutions.
  • Utilize modern tools and multidisciplinary teams within established development processes for training solution design.
  • Work with System Architects to ensure training requirements are well defined and derived into engineering and courseware specifications, with clear V&V criteria.
  • In collaboration with Program Management, define strategies for major opportunities, including make-buy analysis, partner selection, and workshare, considering in-country/offset requirements.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive Solution Reviews to stakeholders, communicating strategies and technical, programmatic, and commercial details.
  • Coordinate cost estimates and risk analyses from stakeholders.
  • Identify potential issues, concerns, and risks related to training solution design, deployment, and delivery phases.
  • Interface with customers and end-users to review training solutions during pre-contract phases.

Required Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 15 years of industry and/or military experience, with at least 10 years in training program development or delivery in operational and/or maintenance roles within the defense sector.
  • Canadian Forces experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience leading large training development, integration, or engineering projects.
  • Knowledge of training development processes is preferred.
  • Understanding of adult learning, e-learning, and the science of learning.
