About Us

The British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives (“BCCNM”) regulates licensed practical nurses, nurse practitioners, registered midwives, registered nurses, and psychiatric nurses in British Columbia under the Health Professions Act. Our regulation ensures public safety by maintaining competent, ethical, and high-standard care. What We Offer

Role Responsibilities

  • Manage the intake process for complaints regarding professional conduct, including conducting initial reviews and investigations.
  • Advise the public and registrants on complaint and investigation procedures.
  • Conduct preliminary investigations and assessments to clarify complaints and determine sufficiency.
  • Collaborate with the monitoring team to ensure compliance with consent agreements and investigate breaches.
  • Prepare reports for the Inquiry Committee and legal review as needed.
  • Contribute to policy development and participate in team meetings for consistent complaint management.
  • Demonstrate ongoing learning about Indigenous cultural safety and anti-racism initiatives.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health administration, social work, counselling, conflict resolution, or related fields; experience in paralegal studies, mediation, or investigations is an asset.
  • 3-5 years of relevant experience, ideally in a tribunal, regulatory body, or health practice environment.
  • Strong interpretation skills of legislation, bylaws, and policies, supported by critical thinking.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with conflict management abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS CRM Dynamics, and MS SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and Indigenous health and anti-racism issues is an asset.
