Posting Notes: This position is in the WRHA Community Health Services, Family Doctor Finder program and reports to the Manager. The FDFP Intake Assistant will provide front-line outbound/inbound call services and related administrative functions.

Position Overview

The Family Doctor Finder Program (FDFP) is a provincial program that helps to match Manitobans to a family doctor, nurse practitioner or pediatrician. Manitobans without a primary care provider call FDF registration services and register with the program. FDFP Intake Assistants will receive this information and contact each registrant via telephone to match them with a provider based on their individual needs.

Reporting to the Manager, the FDFP Intake Assistant is responsible for providing front-line outbound/inbound call services and associated administrative functions. The incumbent processes requests for FDFP services, matches registrants to available primary care providers and ensures relevant data entry is completed and managed in the Unattached Patient Registry database.

Experience
  • Experience in healthcare would be an asset.
  • Phone experience with a strong emphasis on customer service required.
  • Data entry experience would be an asset.
Education
  • Complete high school education, Manitoba Standards, required.

Qualifications And Skills
  • Experience demonstrating good communication skills, trustworthy nonjudgmental manner, and ability to work with individuals of a diverse socioeconomic background.
  • Knowledge of health care system and primary care preferred.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel required.
  • Effective and clear communication (oral and written) in English (in particular over the phone and in writing) required, coupled with professional phone etiquette.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills required.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills are required to work within defined protocols, practices and procedures.
  • Ability to accurately complete tasks, meet required deadlines and achieve defined customer service levels.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, tact, courtesy, and confidentiality required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and effectively contribute to a team environment.
  • Dealing with highly confidential information in a secure environment.
  • General understanding of the community areas throughout the City of Winnipeg.
  • Subject to a Criminal Record Check.
Physical Requirements
  • Required to work for long periods of time at a computer and on the telephone.
Additional Information

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
