Qualifications

Job description

We are currently seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Instrumentation Technologist to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for installing, calibrating, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide range of instrumentation and control systems used in industrial and manufacturing environments. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, a commitment to safety and precision, and thrives in a collaborative, fast‑paced setting. Responsibilities
  • Work in a safe manner and report any unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain the quality of finished product, keep quality records, and report impediments to quality.
  • Contribute to AMETEK’s Continual Improvement Program by making recommendations for process improvements.
  • Comply with AMETEK’s internal policies and procedures.
  • Determine time constraints for tasks and complete them within allotted time.
  • Checkout, calibrate, troubleshoot and repair Western Research products using production plans, wiring diagrams, flow diagrams, drawings and technical manuals. Products include analyzers, printed circuit boards, shelters, rack‑mount systems and other mechanical, optical or electronic sub‑assemblies, both internally produced or sourced from vendors. Assist with project‑based customer inspections of AMETEK product.
  • Maintain production records, checklists, work instructions, etc.
  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced technicians.
  • Provide technical assistance and recommendations to other departments.
  • Comfortable working around dangerous gases and wearing protective equipment, SABA (supplied air breathing apparatus) and SCBA (self‑contained breathing apparatus).
  • Perform other duties as required by business conditions.
Education & Experience
  • Technologist Certification in Electronics, Instrumentation or equivalent; or high school graduate with three (3) years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training and related experience.
Skills & Competencies
  • Ability to maintain high standards despite deadlines and do work right the first time.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, diagrams, and schematics, including wiring diagrams, layout drawings and flow diagrams.
  • Ability to read, understand, and carry out written instructions relating to complex technical matters.
  • Ability to work within a team environment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, open work environment with minimal supervision; self‑motivated; manage transition from task to task and handle frequent change or unexpected events.
  • Ability to solve problems, troubleshoot complex systems, and make effective decisions.
  • Computer literate in MS Windows, MS Excel or similar programs.
  • Communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.
  • Takes responsibility for actions and outcomes; persists despite obstacles; willing to work long hours; demonstrates dependability in difficult circumstances.
Compensation

Currency: CAD
Salary Minimum: 50,000
Salary Maximum: 70,000
