JOURNEYPERSON INSTRUMENTATION TECHNICIAN-BROOKS, ALBERTA

With approximately 3,300 employees, JBS Food Canada ULC (“JBS Canada”) is one of Canada's largest beef processors. The JBS Canada facility in Brooks has the capacity to produce products ranging from boxed beef primals to beef by-products, which are shipped across Canada and worldwide. At the multi-protein Mountain Creek Farms case-ready facility in Calgary, JBS Canada produces value-added products including marinated, portion sized options, kebabs, and more.

At JBS Canada, our people are our greatest asset. We are currently seeking a Journeyperson Instrumentation Technician to join our team. This position will support all computer / network equipment including servers, switches, cabling, printers, and desktop systems.

NOTE : THIS ROLE IS LOCATED IN BROOKS, ALBERTA.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

• Provide production support for issues involving instrumentation and process control;
• Provide maintenance support, including calibrations for all instrumentation and process control;
• Develop, execute and document an Asset Care program for instrumentation, automation, and related systems;
• Support utility metering and related systems;
• Select and commission support for new instrumentation;
• Maintain equipment regularly by adjusting system components and testing functionalities;
• Inspect and troubleshoot equipment for issues and repair or replace defective parts as needed;
• Support Validation activities;
• Lead and participate in failure analysis activities related to instrumentation or process control;
• Lead and assist with the development and implementation of continuous improvement activities for process control and instrumentation.

Qualifications :

• Ability to perform work without established procedures with minimum supervision;
• Team and customer service focus with good organizational and planning skills;
• Strong communication and diplomacy skills required to communicate technical information with non-technical resources;
• Proficient with Allen Bradley, PLC 5, and RS Logix 500 & 5000 programming and troubleshooting;
• Proficiency in SQL servers required;
• Instrumentation : I / P transducers and Modulating Valves;
• Proficient with HMI’s, including Panelview, Factory Talk, and Wonderware;
• Journeyperson Instrumentation Certificate is required;
• 2-5 years of related experience;
• Ability to read drawings pertaining to industrial instrumentation;
• Analytical Thinking with excellent troubleshooting skills, and ability to read P&IDs and follow PLC programs;
• Willingness and flexibility to work shifts as scheduled (afternoon shift / weekends);
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills;
• Knowledge of Windows and MS Office suite.

Work Site Environment : Noisy, Odours, Hot, Cold / refrigerated.
