A leading global consulting firm is seeking an Instrumentation Technician Journeyperson for an offshore role in Newfoundland and Labrador. You will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing control devices in challenging environments. Candidates must have Journeyperson Certification and relevant experience, preferably offshore. This casual role requires readiness for call-outs and adherence to strict safety protocols.

Wood is currently accepting applications for Instrumentation Technician Journeyperson - Adhoc personnel with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry. This role will be located offshore Newfoundland and Labrador. This will be a casual call-out role. The successful candidate will be willing and eligible to travel offshore via helicopter or supply vessel.

As an Instrumentation Technician, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, inspecting, testing, adjusting, and repairing measuring and control devices (electric, electronic, mechanical, pneumatic). You will need to read, understand, and follow drawings and specifications, using power, pneumatic, electronic, and hand tools. You will work in confined spaces, at heights, and in noisy conditions, both indoors and outdoors, often at extreme temperatures.

The Role
  • Location: Offshore Newfoundland and Labrador
  • Site / Office based: Hibernia Platform
  • Hours of work: 12 hours per day
  • Rotation / work pattern: Call out, as needed
  • Required: Site-specific medical, drug, and alcohol testing
  • Unionized position: Rates follow the Collective Bargaining Agreement

Work conditions include confined spaces, heights, noisy environments, and extreme temperatures.

Responsibilities
  • Follow all safety rules, maintain behaviour-based safety standards, and adhere to Life Saving Rules. Respond to safety alerts, warnings, and hazards.
  • Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Work collaboratively as part of a team under the supervision of a foreman or general foreman.
  • Work within precise standards, following specifications and drawings.
  • Apply mathematical formulas to solve problems.
  • Interpret and use CSA, ISA, and API standards and practices.
  • Inspect meters, gauges, and indicators for abnormalities.
  • Test accuracy of flow meters, pressure gauges, and other instruments using appropriate test equipment.
  • Trace and test electronic circuitry to locate defective parts.
  • Use schematics and manuals for maintenance and repairs.
  • Remove, decontaminate, disassemble, and replace defective instruments and parts.
  • Reassemble instruments, calibrate, and record maintenance activities.
  • Prepare schematic drawings and reports reflecting changes or repairs.
  • Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Completion of a 4-year Apprenticeship with Journeyperson Certification or equivalent experience (minimum 6,120 hours).
  • 3-5 years' experience in industrial construction, maintenance, fabrication, or repair (preferably offshore).
  • Demonstrated competence in the trade for Journeypersons.
  • Offshore certificates and training (asset): BST including HUET/HUEBA, Rigging, H2S Alive, WHMIS 2015, Safety Regulatory Awareness, Fall Protection, Confined Space Entry, First Aid.
Physical Requirements
  • Pass site-specific drug, alcohol, and medical tests.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs safely.
  • Perform duties requiring strength, stamina, and working in confined spaces.
  • Work 12-hour shifts in varying temperatures and conditions, with possible overtime.
  • Climb and work at heights safely using fall arrest procedures.
  • Maintain physical activity including walking, climbing, standing, bending, and crawling.
