Job description

Our client is seeking a skilled Instrumentation Technician to ensure safety and reliability in pipeline operations. If you have the expertise and passion for excellence, apply now!

Agilus is recruiting for an Instrumentation Technician in the Oil & Gas Industry in Burnaby, British Columbia. In this role, a technician would be required to utilize maintenance tracking software to document calibration and functionality testing as completed on protective devices, custody transfer instrumentation and pipeline equipment used for both personal and equipment safety. The technician would also be expected to work in both Operations and other trades designations as suitably trained and competent.

A typical day:
  1. Install, calibrate, troubleshoot and maintain process instrumentation, communication networks and control equipment including flow computers, tank gauging systems, custody transfer metering and associated equipment.
  2. Utilize electrical/instrument drawings sets and associated schematics, update as-built drawings.
  3. Supports programming and troubleshooting of HMI (Human Machine Interface) and Programmable Logic Controllers.
  4. Provide Instrumentation support and maintenance to ensure system reliability.
  5. Analyze, interpret and utilize the information contained in SCADA, LOI displays and P&ID drawings to ensure the safe operation of facilities.
  6. Support Emergency Response initiatives and be required to take training in these areas.
  7. Provide Operational support to ensure throughput and system reliability.
  8. Assisting other technical groups as needed, including, but not limited to, maintenance and operations.
Successful candidates will have:
  1. Minimum of 10 years experience in a related field.
  2. Journeyman Instrumentation Certificate - Interprovincial Standard (IP) is required.
  3. Journeyman Electrician Red Seal Certificate would be an asset.
  4. Understanding of Canadian Electrical Code requirements, Process Control and Hydro Test fundamentals are required.
  5. Commissioning and Start-Up experience would be an asset.
  6. Maintain a high regard for personal safety, safety of company assets and employees, and the general public.
  7. Availability to be on call as part of an on-call rotation.
  8. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
