Job summary

Domtar in Skookumchuck, British Columbia, is seeking an Instrumentation Planner for a full-time permanent position. The role focuses on planning instrumentation maintenance, coordinating with operations, and ensuring compliance with safety policies on site.

The ideal candidate will have instrumentation training or equivalent experience, strong planning skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks while updating SAP documentation and drawings as needed.

• Ability to read standard blueprints, machine & process drawings, and sketch or redline existing drawings.

Responsibilities

• Plans all instrumentation maintenance work orders and jobs, ensuring safety policies are followed, materials/tools prepared, and durations accurately defined on the work order.
• Inspects problem areas to determine issues, location, access, criticality, and whether internal or external expertise is required.
• Ensures all required documentation is complete and updated in the SAP system and distributed as needed.
• Identifies opportunities to improve maintenance effectiveness, upgrades, and application of new technology.
• Ensures work orders contain proper descriptions or linked prepared files.
• Communicates specific requirements to operations superintendent for job execution.

The location in Skookumchuck , British Columbia , Canada , is seeking talent to fill the position of Instrumentation Planner. This job is full-time permanent .

Key Responsibilities

• Ensures all instrumentation maintenance work orders and jobs are well planned, all site and regulatory safety policies and procedures followed, trades identified, or services (scaffolding, non-destructive testing, motor removal, motor handover, etc), materials/tools prepared, and duration of tasks accurately and realistically defined and included on the work order.
• Inspects problem areas requiring repair work to determine what's wrong, location, access issues, criticality, and whether the expertise to complete repairs exists internally or if outside assistance is required.
• Ensures all required documentation is complete and up to date in the SAP system and any manual systems, ensures all files are updated as needed, and distributes documentation as required.
• Identifies opportunities to improve work through maintenance effectiveness / systems, equipment upgrades, and application of new technology.
• Ensures that the work order contains a proper description or that a prepared file is linked to the work order
• Informs operations superintendent of the operations specific requirements for carrying out a job (cleaning, positioning of equipment, etc)

Skills And Qualifications

• Trade ticket or post-secondary degree/diploma in the instrumentation field or equivalent work experience
• Experience in estimating and planning work projects
• Demonstrated ability to write and provide simple, accurate instructions
• Demonstrated ability to read standard blueprints, machine & process drawings and have the ability to sketch or redline existing drawings
• Experience managing multiple priorities and projects simultaneously
• Good organization, planning, math, computer, and communication skills
