Overview

Adecco is currently hiring a full-time experienced Instrumentation Engineer / Technologist to join our client's team in Fort McMurray, AB. This role involves designing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting instrumentation systems and equipment to ensure optimal operational performance. You will provide technical support to operations, maintenance, and shutdown teams, focusing on instrumentation reliability and preparing design packages for equipment improvements.

Responsibilities
  • Review shift logs to identify recent instrumentation issues.
  • Provide real-time technical support to Operations and Maintenance teams during troubleshooting and recovery efforts.
  • Lead or support incident investigations and risk analyses.
  • Analyze test data to determine maintenance frequency, equipment upgrade needs, or end-of-life strategies.
  • Prepare engineering work packages focused on reliability improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, modify, and present scopes of work for plant turnaround events.
  • Support the turnaround execution team with engineering expertise throughout the event lifecycle.
  • Prepare detailed design packages including supply, construction, and installation specifications.
  • Ensure high-quality, cost-effective deliverables with clear scopes of work.
  • Review vendor drawings and technical data for compliance with project specifications and standards.
  • Make recommendations on materials, equipment, and services related to assigned scopes.
  • Liaise with vendors to evaluate and select appropriate instrumentation solutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from a Canadian-accredited university or equivalent as recognized by APEGA; OR
  • Diploma in Instrumentation Engineering Technology.
  • Must be a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.), or eligible for membership with APEGA or ASET.
  • Demonstrated experience completing instrumentation engineering work packages, preferably in an industrial or energy sector setting.
  • Previous exposure to design standards, vendor data review, and equipment failure analysis is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry codes, standards, and best practices.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Comfortable working in both office and field environments.
  • Proficiency in technical documentation and root cause failure analysis (RCFA).
  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
