Job summary
EXP Brampton, ON is seeking an Instrumentation Designer to deliver instrumentation system design, fabrication, installation and maintenance for oil and gas projects. You will join our Oil & Gas team in Brampton and apply instrumentation design expertise, material selection and installation procedures to ensure safe, compliant and efficient systems.
The ideal candidate holds a technical diploma in Industrial Instrumentation, and is proficient in Autocad, SmartPlant Instrumentation and SP3D.
Qualifications
- Technical diploma in Industrial Instrumentation or equivalent.
- Experience delivering instrumentation design for industrial projects.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation materials and installation procedures.
Responsibilities
- Ensure instrumentation and control systems are designed, inspected and installed per codes and standards.
- Review and approve EPC contractor control/instrumentation content as required.
- Verify third-party contractors comply with project specifications.
- Design and size instruments, cables and related equipment.
- Develop and interpret P&IDs, datasheets, and loop drawings; support safety integrations (HAZOP/SIL/LOPA).

Be our next Instrumentation Designer!
In this role, you will be a part of the Oil & Gas team, based in Brampton, ON office and have the opportunity to be responsible for delivering the instrumentation system design, fabrication, installation, and maintenance for projects in the oil and gas industry. The role requires expertise in instrumentation design, instrument material selection, fabrication, and installation procedures. The Instrumentation Designer must ensure that all instrument systems comply with industry standards and project specifications, and that they are installed and maintained safely and efficiently.
- Ensure that instrumentation and control systems are designed, inspected and installed in compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Familiar with EP, EPC and EPCM project structure.
- Review, supervise and approve EPC contractor control and instrumentation engineering content as required.
- Ensure that any 3rd party control, electrical and instrumentation engineering contractors/suppliers adhere to the project technical specification required.
- Knowledge of codes and standards, related to instrumentation and control systems, such as ISA, IEC, and NEC.
- Designing of control systems, sizing and selecting instruments, cables, etc.
- Preparing process and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), systems/technical specifications/POs, datasheets, install details, loop drawings for instrumentation electrical and communication equipment.
- Evaluating safety system design and collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure reliable integration with process control systems (HAZOP, SIL, LOPA).
- Supervising inspection, installation and testing system performance.
- Experience in electrical and telecom is preferred.
- Technical diploma in Industrial Instrumentation or greater.
- The ideal candidate should be proficient in Autocad, Smart Plant Instrumentation and Smart Plant 3D experience

The salary range for this role is between $85,000 - $125,000. The actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
