Kinectrics has a growing portfolio of services supporting the development and deployment of new nuclear power plants and lead the life extension projects of existing nuclear power plants in Canada and around the world. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design of Instrumentation and Control systems and/or components in both traditional nuclear markets and new initiatives to develop nuclear technology. The role involves working within a multi-discipline engineering team mainly supporting the design engineering team located in Durham Region, focusing on projects at various OPG sites, e.g., Pickering, Darlington. The position will support refurbishment and/or new build projects led by Kinectrics OPG site services team.
Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
- Provide input and direction to the development of equipment designs through structured processes.
- Mentor and oversee junior engineering team members.
- Offer expertise in electrical/I&C engineering, including control instrumentation assessment, design, and specification of equipment and components.
- Design and analyze control systems, including control computers, PID controllers, DCS, PLC, etc.
- Interface with construction, procurement partners, and utility stakeholders throughout project lifecycle.
- Support field modifications and provide field engineering support.
- Lead design teams and provide technical guidance.
- Assess client problems and develop suitable solutions.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Stay updated on advancements in the field.
- Travel to client sites in Durham region and occasionally within the GTA.
- Perform other duties as required.
What You Need To Succeed
- Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Electrical/I&C Engineering or equivalent.
- 5+ years relevant experience.
- PEO membership or eligibility.
- Experience with nuclear refurbishment, new build, or SMR projects.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (e.g., N299, CSA N286).
- Expertise in control system theory, analysis, and design.
- Project management experience and ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of nuclear plant systems and processes is an asset.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, organize work, and be a team player.
- OPG and Bruce Power Security Clearance is an asset.
