INSTRUCTOR, PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKER (PSW) PROGRAM
Job Summary
Shingwauk Kinoomaage Gamig is seeking passionate and experienced PSW Instructors to join our team. As a PSW Instructor, you will provide students with a positive, supportive, and interactive learning environment that emphasizes hands-on learning and real-world readiness, preparing them to thrive in today's healthcare landscape.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop and submit a 14-week teaching plan demonstrating how course learning outcomes will be achieved
- Develop and deliver engaging course content in both classroom and online settings.
- Utilize adult learning methodologies, multimedia tools, and current technologies to enhance instruction.
- Clearly communicate course objectives and assess student progress.
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and motivating learning atmosphere.
- Monitor student attendance and performance, providing timely feedback.
- Ensure safety standards are upheld in all learning environments.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and graduation ceremonies.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) in good standing.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a PSW or related healthcare setting.
- Teaching or training experience preferred.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- A genuine passion for student success and mentorship.

Job Summary
Shingwauk Kinoomaage Gamig is seeking a dynamic and culturally responsive Social Service Worker instructor. The courses that we are looking for an instructor to teach are listed below with a hyperlink. Under the direction of the Associate Professor and Department Chair, the instructor will educate and train future Social Service Worker students, ensuring they acquire the essential knowledge, skills, and confidence needed in the program.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop 14-week teaching plan demonstrating achievement of course learning outcomes due prior to commencement of classes
- Teach assigned courses, ensuring student awareness of course learning outcomes and evaluation techniques.
- Provide tutoring and academic advising to students both in and out of the classroom.
- Create a learning environment that effectively utilizes available resources, including educational technologies and the Learning Management System (Desire to Learn).
- Evaluate student progress and achievements, taking responsibility for the overall assessment of students' work.
- Design and maintain courses, including defining learning outcomes and planning appropriate teaching approaches.
- Collaborate with faculty, advisory committees, and stakeholders to enhance course content and delivery.
- Participate in professional development activities during non-teaching periods.
Qualifications & Requirements
- BSW graduate.
- Current registration in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
- Minimum of five years of recent experience in the field of social work.
- At least two years of teaching experience in a college setting or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated passion for teaching, learning, and student success.
- Knowledge of student success strategies in a postsecondary setting; experience in developing and delivering blended and online curriculum is an asset.
- Strong communication, presentation, and organizational skills; familiarity with Indigenous knowledge and culturally safe practices is preferred.
- Ability to communicate in Anishnaabemowin is considered an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Office and experience with learning management systems (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard, D2L) is preferred.
