This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group).

Title of Course: Intermediate Spanish Language

SPAN 1F90 D1 BLD Section 1: Tuesday 1200-1500

Please note: The mode of delivery will be blended (face-to-face and asynchronously online) during the term. The course includes 3 hours in-person and 1 hour online/asynchronous time.

Compensation:

  • Effective September 1, 2024 - $7,471.08 per half course (195 hours)
  • Effective September 1, 2024 - $14,942.17 per full course (390 hours)

Instructors employed in a 2-hour/week lecture are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.

Duties:

Duties include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom tasks such as preparing lectures, student consultation, grading, and course administration, including grade appeals and academic dishonesty cases. The successful candidate will work closely with the Hispanic & Latin American Studies Program Coordinator.

Qualifications:

  1. Graduate Degree (PhD or ABD) in Spanish and Latin American Studies, with successful university-level teaching experience. Native or near-native fluency in English and Spanish, with competence in Standard International Spanish.
  2. Evidence of teaching competence, including evaluations, teaching dossier, and references. Ability to work independently and within a team, participate in curriculum development, and share responsibilities in test preparation and student assessment.
  3. Experience with computer-based instruction, web-based pedagogical techniques, and online student tracking systems. Proficiency with university-supported online course tools.
  4. Strong time management skills, punctuality, and availability for student consultations (office hours: 1.5 hours per section per week) and exam proctoring.
