Instructor, Office Administration (Accounting)

Job Information

The Instructor, Office Administration (Accounting) is responsible for planning, teaching, delivering, and evaluating adult education courses in Office Administration, primarily in accounting.

Scope:
Reports to the Program Head and delivers instruction across multiple campuses and community locations in the Northwest Territories. Must develop and update course content, meet accreditation standards, and promote Aurora College in the community.

Key Responsibilities:
- Instruction: Course planning, delivery, student evaluation, academic counseling.
- Curriculum Development: Maintain and revise course materials to ensure relevance and quality.
- Administration: Maintain records, submit reports, comply with policies.
- Community Engagement: Promote College through events, career fairs, and outreach.
- College Service: Attend meetings, support colleagues, and assist with special projects.

Working Conditions:
Physical: On feet up to 80% of the day; occasional lifting.

Travel: May need to travel between campuses, sometimes via winter roads or small aircraft.

Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Expertise in accounting and business administration.
- Adult education methods and curriculum design.
- Strong communication, organization, and team skills.

To be successful in this role, typically, the above qualifications would be attained by:
- Completion of a Master's Degree in Business Administration
- 3 years experience in the field of Accounting
- 2 years instructional experience in the field of Accounting in post-secondary
- 2 years¿ experience working with Aboriginal governments or Northern community governance structures
- A bona fide requirement of the job is the completion of six weeks of full time coursework in adult education within the first two years of employment and completion of a certificate in Adult Education within five years of hire.
- Certification with a recognized Accounting designation
