Job summary

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Computer Science, IT, Networking, Cybersecurity or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years industry experience in networking, systems administration, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, IPv4/IPv6 addressing, routing, DHCP, DNS, HTTP; Linux networking commands.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging classroom instruction and facilitate practical lab activities.
  • Create an inclusive and supportive learning environment that promotes student success.
  • Demonstrate networking concepts through real-world examples and hands-on exercises.
  • Assess student learning through assignments, practical activities, and examinations.
  • Provide timely feedback and academic support to students.
  • Maintain accurate attendance, grades, and course documentation.

Contract Instructor – Networks and Protocols

ILAC International College is seeking an experienced industry professional to teach our Networks and Protocols course. We are looking for an instructor who is passionate about networking technologies and enjoys helping students build practical, job-ready skills through hands-on learning.

This course combines theoretical instruction with practical lab activities, preparing students to understand, configure, and troubleshoot modern computer networks using industry-standard tools. The successful candidate will guide students through networking concepts while facilitating engaging lab exercises using Cisco Packet Tracer, Wireshark, and Linux environments.

Location: Toronto, ON (In-Person)
Position Type: Contract
Course Dates: September 14 – December 14
Teaching Schedule: Wednesdays, 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Compensation:$45.00 per hour

About the Course

Students develop practical networking skills through a combination of lectures and hands-on labs. Topics include network architecture, IP addressing, routing, transport protocols, and network services, with an emphasis on configuring, analyzing, and troubleshooting networks using industry-standard tools.

Key Topics

The successful instructor will teach topics including:

  • OSI and TCP/IP networking models
  • IPv4 and IPv6 addressing
  • Subnetting, VLSM, and CIDR
  • Static and dynamic routing (RIP and OSPF)
  • TCP and UDP protocols
  • DHCP, DNS, and HTTP services
  • Network packet analysis and troubleshooting
  • Network configuration using Cisco Packet Tracer, Wireshark, and Linux command-line tools
Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Academic Department to ensure high-quality program delivery.
Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of industry experience in networking, systems administration, network engineering, cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • TCP/IP networking
    • IPv4/IPv6 addressing and subnetting
    • Routing and switching
    • DHCP, DNS, HTTP, and related protocols
    • Linux networking commands
  • Experience using Cisco Packet Tracer and Wireshark.
  • Previous teaching, training, mentoring, or corporate facilitation experience is considered an asset.
  • Relevant industry certifications such as Cisco CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are highly desirable.
