Job description

Position Type: Term

Location: Saint John (2 Positions)

Hours of Work: Full-time up to 36.25 hours/week.

Salary Range: $2,454.00 to $3,776.00 bi-weekly based on the experience and level of post-secondary education.

Responsibilities

Collaborating with and reporting to the Academic Chair of Industrial Mobile Equipment Repair and as a member of the faculty team, you are responsible for planning and preparing instructional materials and resources; establishing and managing a positive learning environment; instructing and evaluating students; building and sustaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, community partners, and stakeholders; as well as other related duties.

Specific Instructional Areas And Courses Within The Program Will Include The Full Scope Of This Trade Which May Include But Are Not Limited To

  • Trade-related math and physics
  • Welding, Rigging and Hoisting
  • Hydraulics
  • Blueprint reading
  • Mechanical equipment maintenance
  • Machine operations
  • Preventative and Predictive Maintenance

You will be willing and able to integrate technology and active student learning techniques into teaching practices.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Required qualifications for this opportunity include a high school diploma, or equivalency.
  • A valid Journeyperson Certificate of Qualification in Industrial Mechanic with a Red Seal Certificate.
  • Preference may be given to candidates with other relatable trades such as Machinist or Welder. Preference may be given to candidates who have a minimum of three (3) years of related, recent work experience at the Journey person's level.

  • Highly flexible with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to navigate and build relationships effectively throughout the organization.
  • Working Knowledge of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills, analytical ability, and innovative thinking.
  • Self-motivated, service and results oriented.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively independently and within a team.
  • A desire for continuous learning and growth.

Other combinations of education and experience may be considered as equivalent. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be raised. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level.
