Principles of Biogeography
Compensation
Effective September 1, 2024 - $ $7,471.08 per half course (195 hours nominally)
Effective September 1, 2024 - $14,942.17 per full course (390 hours nominally)
Please note: Instructors who are employed in a 2-hour/week lecture, or the equivalent of a 2-hour/week lecture, are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab in each course.
Duties
Duties and responsibilities will be in accordance with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement. The course instructor is responsible for organizing the course (including secondary components) and presenting the lectures. The Instructor determines the course material (includes textbook as required) and the marking scheme. The instructor also sets the topics for the secondary components, assignments, progress examination (if required), final examination, serves as a proctor at examinations, supervises the Teaching Assistants, ensures that the marks are recorded and submitted in a timely manner.
The Instructor must be willing to teach all aspects of the course (i.e., lectures, labs, seminars) in an online format, due to government mandated COVID-19 mitigation measures.
Qualifications
a) Ph.D. or ABD in Geography,
b) Evidence of competent and effective teaching experience in Physical Geography, preferably in Biogeography, at the undergraduate university level (letters of reference and course/performance evaluations).

As per Article 22.04 of the Collective Agreement:
a. Members shall not accept any appointment which, taken together with all other appointments at the University, would cause the member to exceed the maximum number of regular hours (i.e., not overtime hours) allowable in a work week under the Employment Standards Act, as amended from time to time.
b.It is the responsibility of the member to accept only as many appointments (i.e. hours of work) as will allow their to successfully complete the duties assigned for each appointment. It is understood that members who accept multiple appointments will be held to the same standards and expectations as other members of the Bargaining Unit and other members working in the same course and/or department.
