Organization Overview

LDS - Learn. Develop. Succeed. is a growing, innovative, research-based, educational nonprofit charity serving children, youth and adults with diagnosed or suspected learning differences such as dyslexia and dyscalculia and other brain-based differences like ADHD and ASD. Our growing, affordable programs and services operate throughout Canada live online, from our Learning Centres in East Vancouver and North Vancouver, at in-school locations, and in Access, our electric vehicle mobile classroom.

Purpose of Position

Instructors work one-to-one with school-aged (Kindergarten to grade 12) learners, delivering individualized and comprehensive learning support that is neuroaffirming, strengths-based, and evidence-based.

Principal Roles and Responsibilities

  • Deliver one-to-one instruction
  • Create and maintain a learning environment that is neuroaffirming, strengths-based, and enjoyable for all learners
  • Identify learner strengths and challenges through informal and formal assessment
  • Draw from multiple resources and curricula, develop and implement year-long learning plans and daily lesson plans for your assigned learners that are individualized, neuroaffirming, strength-based, evidence-based, technology-enhanced and linked to measurable learning goals
  • Provide formal and informal written progress reports, with or without the use of assistive technology

Requirements & Competencies

Successful candidates for the instructor role have the ability to perform the above-listed principal roles and responsibilities with minimal to moderate support. This typically requires the following experience and competencies :

  • Experience working with school-aged children with diagnosed or suspected learning differences
  • Experience in strengths-based, neuroaffirming learning environments and / or a demonstrated eagerness and ability to quickly adapt to this type of environment
  • Experience using structured, systematic, and explicit instructional approaches
  • Experience teaching the following : literacy concepts using a structured literacy / Science of Reading approach, math focused on building conceptual understanding, and support for executive functioning, sensory processing, or social-emotional learning. Open positions may list additional specific required instructional experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with or without the use of assistive technology
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset

    Full-time instructors are permanent salaried employees who work Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday, with hours of work dependent on location. Hours and locations of work may differ outside of the academic year (school breaks and summer ). E mployees are eligible for extended health and dental and travel benefits and paid vacation time.

    LDS has two primary learning centres , located in East Vancouver and North Vancouver. We also deliver sessions live online throughout Candaa, and on our Access mobile classroom in various physical locations.

  • Open Positions, starting September 2, 2025, or earlier :

    North Vancouver Full-Time Instructor : one position

  • Monday to Friday, 10 : 30 am -6 : 30 pm, specific experience required : supporting complex learning needs including movement-based, play-based, self-regulation, and able to teach math and literacy content aligned with grades ~K-7+
  • East Vancouver Full-Time Instructor : three positions

  • Monday to Friday, 11 : 30 am-7 : 30 pm, specific experience required : supporting complex learning needs, including movement-based, play-based, self-regulation, and able to teach math and literacy content aligned with grades ~K-7+
  • Tuesday to Friday 11 : 30 am-7 : 30 pm and Saturday 9 am- 5 pm specific experience required : supporting complex learning need,s including movement-based, play-based, self-regulation, and able to teach math and literacy content aligned with grades ~K-7+
  • Tuesday to Friday 11 : 30 am-7 : 30 pm and Saturday 9 am- 5 pm, specific experience required : supporting teen learners, including those who may be resistant to learning support due to past negative educational experiences, and able to teach math and literacy content aligned with grades ~7-12
  • For the East Vancouver positions, it is an asset if you are able to drive and support the management of Access, our electric mobile classroom vehicle. This is a large van that requires a regular drivers licence and 5+ years of city driving experience. We do not transport learners in this vehicle; we only deliver our RISE One-to-One instruction.

    Reports to : Instructors report to the Senior Manager, Instruction and Innovation, and work closely with their assigned Case Manager(s) during the academic term.

    Remuneration and Benefits :

  • Salary per annum : $53,000 – $56,000
  • Paid vacation , and office closure from December 25 and January 1 that does not count toward your vacation
