MacPhail School of Energy provides hands-on, industry-guided training in labs that mimic job site environments, giving students the skills needed to find a rewarding career in the energy sector.
The Opportunity
Join SAIT’s MacPhail School of Energy as we advance our role as a leader in applied environmental education. We are seeking a highly motivated Instructor in Environmental Sciences for a full-time, 1-year temporary position. This role supports SAIT’s Environmental Technology and Integrated Water Management diploma programs—two pathways that prepare learners for meaningful work in environmental monitoring, sustainable resource management, and water system planning.
You bring a strong background in the natural sciences with a passion for applied teaching, hands-on learning, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate will possess experience in areas such as physical hydrology, stormwater management and analysis, geomatics or spatial sciences, earth systems, or ecology. Proficiency in GIS, field instrumentation, and environmental data platforms is a strong asset.
The position is well-suited for individuals with a graduate degree (M.Sc. minimum or technical equivalency, Ph.D. preferred) and relevant industry or applied research experience. Demonstrated familiarity with environmental regulations, permitting, and compliance frameworks—especially as they pertain to land, water, or environmental planning—is considered a significant advantage . In addition to these technical skills, an individual prepared to mentor and support students across a wide diversity of backgrounds is required.

Note: SAIT, as a post-secondary institution, serves a diverse student population. Therefore, instructional duties may occasionally be required during early mornings, evenings, and weekends. If selected, specific scheduling arrangements will be discussed between you and the leader.
