Job summary

The University of Manitoba’s Department of Food Science invites applications for an Instructor in EDIA 0100 Foundations in EDIA. The role combines online and in-person teaching, course preparation, and student assessment across multiple modalities.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree or a suitable combination of post-secondary education, professional certification and work experience in the relevant field.
• Experience in adult learning and teaching, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, highly organized.
• Commitment to life-long learning and a learner-centered approach to teaching.
• The ability to engage students in their learning environment and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion.
• Experience instructing at a post-secondary level, using teaching & learning technology (e.g. Desire2Learn), and demonstrated leadership skills are assets.

Course/lesson preparation (new, revised, or repeated); in-class or online teaching; evaluation (marking, grading of online forums, and other forms of student assessment); supporting student learning and related administrative duties. Specific responsibilities may vary from course to course.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Facilitating course delivery and engagement through UMLearn online Learning Management System, UM Zoom, MS Teams, and in-person sessions. Fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment. Providing ongoing feedback to students on their learning. Grading and returning assignments according to the course schedule. Adhering to U of M policies and procedures, as well as Extended Education Regulations, including academic integrity.
