This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) DART 2P51 (Winter) Section 2.

Position: Acting Instructor in Theatre

Course Description: Exploration of script-based performance through embodiment of monologue and scene studies in contemporary realism. Techniques for approaching a script, creating a role, developing a character, impulse work, vocal and physical awareness.

Half course: Lab, 5 hours per week.

Dates: Jan 5 - Apr 2, 2026 (D3)

Schedule:

  • Monday 14:00-17:00
  • Friday 10:00-12:00

Compensation:

Effective September 1, 2024 - $7,471.08 per half course (195 hours)
Effective September 1, 2024 - $14,942.17 per full course (390 hours)
Note: Instructors with a 2-hour/week lecture are responsible for the first hour of seminar/lab.

Responsibilities:

In accordance with Article 22.01 of the Collective Agreement, duties include scheduled contact hours with students, preparation, student consultation, grading, and course administration, including grade appeals and academic dishonesty cases.

Qualifications:
  • PhD or MFA in acting, directing, or a related discipline, with training in scene study and impulse work.
  • Significant professional or scholarly contributions to theatre or related fields.
  • Relevant post-secondary teaching experience with evidence of teaching effectiveness.
  • Expertise in anti-oppressive, decolonizing, anti-racist, or related approaches, demonstrated through scholarly work, professional practice, or leadership.
  • Ability to use Brightspace, BrockDB, OASIS, or equivalent systems.
