Are you passionate about climate change education and eager to help build capacity in the North?

Aurora College is seeking an Instructor in Climate Change (1-year term) to develop and deliver impactful, community-focused training that supports adaptation and resilience across the Northwest Territories.

In this role, you will work with communities to build capacity around climate change adaptation in the North; evaluate different outreach and training strategies; and collaborate with a dynamic, knowledgeable team that includes government, Indigenous communities, and academia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver climate change courses and micro-credentials tailored to Northern needs.
  • Collaborate with Indigenous governments, industry, and subject matter experts to identify learning priorities.
  • Develop engaging curriculum, assessments, and multimedia content for in-person and online delivery.
  • Instruct pilot courses and collect feedback to improve learning outcomes.
  • Participate in advisory committees, promote programs, and represent the College in public forums.
Key Qualifications
  • Master's degree in climate science, environmental science, northern studies, or a related field (Environmental studies, Sustainability studies, Geography, Adult Education, Science mobilization) and 2 years of experience in climate change programming.
  • Bachelor's degree in fields such as Climate Change, Environmental science, adult education, or science mobilization, along with 4 years of experience in Climate Change programming.
  • Experience working on climate change adaptation strategies, community engagement around climate change, climate change monitoring, developing and implementing climate change policies, or other work supporting climate change adaptation.

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) offers a competitive salary, an annual northern living allowance, a generous defined benefit pension plan, annual leave including the option for deferred leave, and health/dental benefits. The GNWT will also provide relocation assistance, if needed, to the successful candidate.
