Job description


Duties:

Teach an 8-week micro-credential on Agroecology (Thursdays 6pm to 9pm synchronous online + two Saturday field days). Prepare and deliver classes using provided course materials, grade student assignments, evaluate student progress, maintain records of attendance, assignments, and quizzes. Communicate with guest speakers to receive biographical information and liaise with guest speakers to ensure presentations are consistent with course materials. Consult/collaborate with the Program Coordinator.

Candidates must demonstrate commitment to teaching, learning, and student success. Successful candidates will participate in activities outside the classroom including student support and department committees.


Required Qualifications:

Degree in relevant subject area such as Agroecology, Agriculture and Food Systems, Environmental Studies, or Biology from an appropriately accredited institution.Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the content covered within the micro-credential. Demonstrated ability to facilitate effectively (online and in person), and to support adult learning styles with sensitivity, enthusiasm, and creativity.Experience using a common learning management system, such as Desire2Learn, Blackboard, or Moodle. A combination of education and experience may be considered.

  • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative, and to work collaboratively.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and have a confirmed satisfactory driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in relevant subject area.
  • Experience working in agriculture.
  • Recent experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching.
