Job summary

PCL Constructors Inc. in Edmonton is seeking an instructional designer to design, develop, and deliver engaging learning programs for a range of entry-level to intermediate courses.

You will collaborate with SMEs, apply adult learning principles, and manage projects from design through evaluation to continuously improve programs. Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5 years of progressive experience with training delivery and/or facilitation in a corporate environment.
• Experience with various instructional design approaches and adult learning theory.
• Ability to deliver effective learning to diverse groups.
• Strong communication, relationship-building, and written skills.
• Organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to multitask.
• Knowledge of change-management methodologies is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Completes the analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation, and maintenance of entry-level to intermediate behavioral and technical courses or programs.
• Applies adult learning methodologies to deliver online and instructor-led courses or programs.
• Acts as project lead for assigned initiatives and applies project and time management principles to track tasks and deadlines.
• Works with subject matter experts (SMEs) to design and develop curricula.
• Assesses and monitors the effectiveness of courses and learner needs and adjusts instructional strategies accordingly.
• Researches and applies best practices and industry trends.
• Uses rapid authoring tools to develop e-learning and strengthen instructor-led courses.
• Provides company-wide support and consultation on learning and development initiatives at PCL.
• Manages preparation of course materials, including pre- and post-course work.
• Develops and maintains strong, customer-focused relationships with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline preferred.
• 5 years of progressive experience with training delivery and/or facilitation in a corporate environment preferred.
• Experienced in using various instructional design approaches, instruction methodologies, and learner-centric design and learning solutions to design and implement new courses or program. Demonstrated experience in the application of adult learning theory and practices.
• Ability to deliver effective learning (instructor-led or online) to a diverse group of participants with varying knowledge, experience, and backgrounds.
• Effective relationship building, verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to research and analyze information, staying current with industry advancements and knowledge.
• Strong organizational skills, a high level of detail orientation, and ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting deadlines to effectively manage demands and projects.
• Knowledge of organizational change-management methodologies is an asset; as is intermediate-level business acumen.
