Job description

Summary: Supports the corporate and foundation fundraising efforts of the Institutional Advancement Department through coordination of Corporate Partner membership, sponsorship, and grant proposals to support the Garden’s annual operating budget. Assists with Corporate Partner membership program database records, renewals, acknowledgements, and Corporate Partner Day events, as well as, Corporate Council meeting coordination and communication. Assists with prospect research, data management, and administration of sponsorships and grants from corporate foundations, private foundations, and appropriate government agencies while ensuring compliance with funder guidelines and deadlines, as well as, the Garden’s financial recordkeeping procedures. Identifies opportunities to connect needs and resources within corporate and foundation funding circles – locally, nationally, and internationally.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Identifies, cultivates, and solicits corporate and foundation donors in coordination with Corporate Giving Manager and Foundation Relations Manager.
  2. Researches foundations, corporations, and other sources to identify new funding opportunities and evaluate degree of match to Garden priorities.
  3. Performs grant writing personally, as well as, coordinates with contracted grant writers and/or division staff performing grant writing.
  4. Oversees Corporate Partner, sponsorship, and grant administration and management through use of Tessitura to ensure all guidelines are followed and benefits are received.
  5. Maintains tracking system and proposal schedule to ensure sponsorship, grant, and reporting deadlines are met. Keeps other Division staff informed of upcoming deadlines and deliverables, thereby ensuring smooth completion of work responsibilities.
  6. Prepares financial or budget plans and allocation with input and participation from other Divisions. Works in coordination with the Finance department to assure that grant proposals meet the operational and financial needs of the Garden.
  7. Provides detailed reports and responds to evaluation requests of funders and the board of directors with respect to grant progress. Works in coordination with Donor Communications team to provide sponsorship event summary reports to demonstrate impact.
  8. Works in cooperation with Institutional Advancement operations staff to ensure accurate gift entry and record maintenance of all corporate and foundation records (active and archive), including the reconciliation of non-Development generated grants are initially received and recorded through the Controller’s Office.
  9. Assists with list generation, review, and edits for the Annual Report.
  10. Meets expected attendance guidelines.
  11. Follows and adheres to established policies and procedures, including but not limited to Employee Handbook, Garden Safety Guidelines, and Department Policies.
  12. Behaves and communicates in a manner that promotes and fosters a culture of teamwork, cooperation, and respect within our division and throughout the Garden with all employees, supervisors/managers, volunteers, visitors, and others.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of two (2) years experience in the resource development field with an emphasis on corporate and foundation relations, volunteer board relations, grant writing, and grant administration.
  2. Experience in cultural, academic, or conservation science-based institution or related organization.
  3. Excellent writing skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  4. Proven ability to engage and interact with a wide variety of people and provide strong customer service.
  5. Proven track record of taking initiative and ownership of projects through successful completion required.
  6. Must be able to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
  7. Willingness to work as part of a team required; proven ability to work collaboratively with internal team members for the purposes of achieving goals and objectives.
  8. Adheres to all health and safety policies/procedures.

Education:
