As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is proudly working to transform the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project, and we are hiring for hundreds of roles.

Alstom is seeking to add an Installation Scheduler to its installation team. This individual will be responsible for supporting the installation teams with accurate schedules while also assisting in the development of the various plans and documents required for an efficient and on-schedule Project. This individual will represent the installation team at all schedule meetings and will be the first point of contact for any installation-related queries.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key accountabilities:

  • Organization of meetings with various stakeholders to develop and maintain an accurate and coherent installation schedule
  • Review the Project's overall completion schedule and filter all activities that impact the installation scopes of work
  • Represent the installation team at all schedule meetings, internal and external, and provide useful inputs and feedback
  • Provide the installation teams with useful feedback from the various schedule and progress meetings
  • Organise and chair regular schedule meetings with the installation teams to gather updates and progress statuses
  • Provide the Project's scheduling team with meaningful inputs and progress updates that will be used to update the Project's overall schedule
  • Perform Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) analyses, as required
  • With the support of the sub-system teams, develop and maintain accurate hour-by-hour schedules
  • Develop and maintain workblock schedules that will be utilised by the installation teams
  • Provide the installation teams with ad-hoc filtered schedules, as needed
  • Provide KPIs and inputs that will be included in regular distribution to senior management
  • Identify and communicate potential delays and/or issues with enough advance notice so the impacts can be mitigated and/or reduced
Performance measurements:
  • Baseline Project schedule approved (internally and by the Client)
  • Regular and consistent scheduling updates, with analysis of potential delays
  • On-time delivery of KPIs and planning documents
  • Standard metrics measuring schedule robustness (PSI-Project Schedule Integrity)
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES:
Educational Requirements

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
Experience

Mandatory:

  • Minimum 7-10 years experience in the construction industry
  • Project management and industrial or construction background
  • Experience in complex projects (Design-Build/PPP/Alliance)
  • Familiar with internal processes (Tenders, Projects, Engineering, Industrial, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Quality, and their interfaces)
  • Ability to develop and maintain resource-loaded schedules (material, manpower, etc), Schedule of Values (SOV), Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Ability to perform Quantitative Schedule Risk Analysis (QSRA) analyses using the Monte Carlo method
  • Familiarity working within the Metrolinx construction environment
  • Railway products and services knowledge on different market segments (Metro/Tramway/Mainline)
  • Experience of management by Quality, Cost and Delivery objectives
  • Hands-on experience on Customer relationship in technical topics

Primavera P6 and MS-Project software and skills

  • Advanced MS Office proficiency, especially MS Excel
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, resilience, and team-working spirit
  • Strong team player

  • Resilience, with an analytic way of thinking in order to solve complex system failures
  • Ability to work independently, is trustworthy, and self-motivated
  • Strict attention to detail and ability to adhere to defined processes
