As part of the ONxpress consortium, Alstom is proudly working to transform the collective mobility of the Greater Toronto and Hamilton areas (GTHA) through the On-Corridor Works project. The GO Expansion scope: new electric locomotives, fleet upgrades, train control systems, network electrification, signalling, telecommunications and digital systems.

Responsibilities
  • Installation Engineering Designer.
    • Support with engineering studies (Bill of Installation Materials / Quantities, Method Statements, Installation Materials Specification Requirements, Installation drawings and configuration).
    • Assess monthly the Prime’s progress and generate internal reporting: Action plan progress, report, review, and progress.
    • Support on delivering Installation Engineering activities as per Alstom System requirements.
    • Support with installation design including Installation Method statement, drawings, and manage site copies of drawing with Red & Yellow mark-ups, reviews, and analyses subcontractor daily/weekly installation reports. Manage Punch list and regular follow-ups to close them. Ensure that “as built” drawings are in place before revenue service, including “as installed” configuration.
    • Create Installation BOQ and update as per project requirements. Supervise first article inspections and get approvals from end user. Generate Traceability to installation requirements.
    • Proficiency in using BIM/AutoCAD/Microstation to create/modify 2D drawings is an asset.
    • Attention to detail – to understand mechanical and electrical drawings for installation.
    • Good communication skills and familiarity with working in a unionized environment.
    • Proficiency in computer office applications such as MS Word, Excel, Outlook.
Education
  • Engineer Degree level or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified in AutoCAD and/or other Design tools desirable.
  • P. Eng certification in progress (i.e. EIT).
Experience
  • 0-3 years production experience in design, drafting or engineering.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Quality focused, team player.
  • Basic knowledge in railway.
