Make an impact with our Consumer Insolvency team as an Insolvency Counsellor. This diverse team of professionals assists Canadians with navigating and overcoming financial challenges to achieve financial freedom. As a trusted advisor, you will help individuals recover from times of financial distress and regain control of their finances.

With more than 65 Licensed Insolvency Trustees serving more than 240 resident and satellite offices strategically located across the country, we’re here for people — when and where they need us.

Responsibilities

  • Provide one-on-one counselling sessions to clients dealing with financial difficulties.
  • Provide advice about budgeting, achieving financial goals, spending habits, and responsible use of credit.
  • Assist clients with developing or reviewing a tailored budget.
  • Assist clients with developing appropriate financial goals and plans.
  • Enhance the online modules provided by the OSB with structured and relevant counselling sessions.
  • Ensure all counselling services are conducted in accordance with the BIA and other relevant regulations.
  • Work closely with our team of Licensed Insolvency Trustees and other professionals to provide comprehensive support to clients.
  • Stay up to date with changes in the BIA and related legislation, as well as best practices in financial counselling.

Skills and Experience

  • Must be a certified BIA Counsellor with experience in providing counseling under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial information in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a compassionate and non-judgmental approach to client care.
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and tasks efficiently, with strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using financial software and other digital tools required for client management and documentation.
