Company: Finning Canada Number of Openings: 1 Worker Type: Permanent Position Overview: Finning is seeking a highly collaborative, curious and analytically driven Insights Lead to support our Supply Chain team to bridge the gap between data, insight, and strategic execution. In this business-facing role, you will work closely with supply chain stakeholders, analysts, and Caterpillar partners to turn complex data into actionable insights that drive performance. Your deep understanding of supply chain operations, advanced analytics, and business dynamics will be key to shaping smarter decisions and delivering measurable impact across the organization.

  • Shape smarter forecasting by developing and refining predictive models for demand, inventory, and procurement.
  • Lead high-impact projects that improve supply chain performance, reduce costs, and enhance supplier relationships.
  • Build and maintain interactive dashboards and reports using tools like PowerBI, R, and Excel to support decision-making.
  • Identify and implement scalable, data-driven solutions that improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Perform exploratory data analysis and multivariate visualizations to uncover trends and opportunities.
  • Build explainable, statistically grounded forecasting models aligned with operational needs.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand strategic challenges and co-create solutions.
  • Translate complex quantitative findings into clear, actionable insights for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Promote a data-driven, customer-obsessed culture across the organization.
  • Continuously improve reporting and analysis processes through automation and innovation.
  • Stay current on emerging tools and techniques in analytics, BI, and data science.
  • Support Caterpillar excellence certifications and contribute to strategic initiatives such as market studies and pricing.
  • Prioritize projects based on business impact, feasibility, and resource availability.
  • Deliver ad hoc insights on topics such as market share growth, customer behavior, and operational performance.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Economics, Computer Science, Statistics, IT, Marketing, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or a related analytics role.
  • Proficiency in PowerBI, R, Excel, and SQL for data analysis and visualization.
  • Strong understanding of statistical modeling, forecasting, and machine learning techniques.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to simplify complex data.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred:

  • Experience in the heavy equipment, energy & transportation, construction, or mining industries.
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar systems and Finning’s operational landscape.
  • Knowledge of supply chain operations and inventory management best practices.

Note:

  • This position is based out of our Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer or Grande Prairie location.
  • Permanent, full-time role.
  • Hybrid role, with the ability to work from home 2-3 days per week once trained.
  • Monday – Friday, 5 x 2 schedule.
