Job Summary

Responsible for keeping records of all products shipped and received. Pick and pack goods, develop shipping labels and documents, and ensure that all orders have been picked and packed correctly. Responsible for verifying incoming shipments, ensuring accuracy of goods matching shipping documents and purchase orders. Also, responsible for making deliveries as needed, which requires operation of a company vehicle.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
  • Service customers via telephone and/or walk-ins and ensure counters are properly stocked. Interact with customers, vendors, and associates to resolve customer-related and service-related issues.
  • Act as a liaison between warehouse and customers; pick and pack goods to be shipped and prepare identifying information and shipping instructions.
  • Determine method of shipment and prepare all required and supporting documentation. Ensure timely shipment of materials and customer satisfaction.
  • Receive merchandise, check and sign delivery slips, and assist with unloading. Affix barcodes, tags, and security tags, and operate forklift, hand trucks, or other equipment to load, unload, transport, and store goods.
  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against purchase orders or other documents, record shortages, and reject damaged goods.
  • Organize distribution and shipping of merchandise. Verify against documents, unpack, and route goods to appropriate storage areas.
  • Maintain internal record-keeping systems. Contact transport companies and suppliers to expedite, trace, or return merchandise that does not conform to specifications or purchase orders.
  • Take inventory, maintain storage area, organize, and place stock on shelves. Ensure area is secure at all times.
Nature and Scope

Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instructions. Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor.

Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment. Work involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.

Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause discomfort or moderate risk, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.

Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds, stand for periods exceeding 60 minutes, and perform repetitive movements such as using a calculator, bending, or squatting.

Education and Experience
  • HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. 0-2 years of experience in the area of responsibility.
