Job summary

Unity Health is seeking an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician to manage drug distribution within the hospital. Qualifications

Job description

Inpatient Pharmacy Technician - Pharmacy Technical Operations

Join our team as an Inpatient Pharmacy Technician, where you will be responsible for the technical aspects of drug distribution within the hospital. Your duties will include:

  1. Performing unit dose distribution, repackaging, and intravenous admixing, including chemotherapy and TPNs.
  2. Replenishing ward stock medications and preparing narcotics and controlled substances.
  3. Managing inventory control functions.
  4. Ensuring the accuracy, quality, and timeliness of pharmaceutical product preparation and release to enhance patient safety and care.
Responsibilities
  • Support drug distribution systems and pharmacy services across patient care areas.
  • Operate pharmacy automation systems such as PillPick, Pyxis, CII Safe, and Table Top Packager.
  • Manage narcotics and controlled substances in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary staff and external resources.
  • Precept and supervise pharmacy technician students and perform delegated tasks.
  • Work independently and prioritize duties efficiently.
Qualifications
  • Completed a Pharmacy Technician Program at an accredited college.
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
  • At least one year of experience in an inpatient hospital pharmacy setting, with aseptic technique skills preferred.
  • Excellent attendance and punctuality record.
