Job summary

Alberta Health Services is seeking a Pharmacist I for Foothills Medical Centre to optimize pharmacotherapy for medically complex inpatients. You will review orders, perform medications reconciliation, and participate in pharmacokinetic assessments within a 24/7 hospital setting.

You will mentor staff and students, collaborate with Hospitalists across units, and manage high‑risk medications while ensuring patient safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Completion of Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
• Current, provisional or transferable registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy as a Pharmacist.
• Entry-to-practice degree (BSc or PharmD) in Pharmacy.
• Hospital residency and/or PharmD post‑graduate program preferred.
• Prescribing authority at hire or within 1 year and injections.
• At least 1 year of recent clinical deployment in hospital pharmacy.
• Experience in internal medicine/hospitalist/general medicine preferred.
• Trained in PN verification and able to work 24/7.

Responsibilities

• Safe preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services.
• Manage medication therapy for patients on an ongoing basis.
• Assess, intervene and resolve drug-related problems.
• Oversee compounding and packaging activities.
• Support students and residents; mentor staff.
