Position Summary:

The Dietitian is responsible for provision of direct patient services, including consultation, assessment and education and ensures clinical services are meeting the needs of the program(s). They are responsible for participation in departmental, organizational and educational activities, which are supportive of professional objectives. The Dietitian adheres to professional obligations as required by the College of Dietitians of Ontario and is responsible for delivery of care consistent with the vision and values of the organization.

Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical nutrition in an inpatient setting – Required, will be tested
  • Demonstrated experience with enteral and parenteral nutrition support – Required, will be tested
  • Previous work or volunteer experience with geriatric populations – Preferred
  • Previous work or volunteer experience with individuals with mental illness – Preferred
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of an interdisciplinary health care team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Compliance with the Professional Standards for Dietitians in Canada and Clinical Practice Guidelines to ensure delivery of high quality care to patients
  • Ability to utilize best practice guidelines for nutrition assessment and nutrition diagnosis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Utilization of excellent patient-centered skills to provide and facilitate an effective dietetic service
  • Proficiency in French language is considered an asset
Education and/or Certification:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food & Nutrition – Required
  • Practicum Program Completion of a Dietitian of Canada (DC) approved internship, or approved DC Equivalent – Required
