Job description

Printpack's manufacturing plant in Elgin, IL is seeking a qualified candidate to fill an Ink Technician position. The Ink Technician is responsible for the preparation of inks, including color matching, and other liquid raw materials in a timely manner for production use. In addition, controlling the storage and disposal of hazardous waste generated in the process and ensuring safe storage of flammable materials. This position is for 2nd Shift (3pm - 11pm, Mon - Fri). Shift flexibility is required.

Additional $2.50/hr premium for NIGHT Shift only between the hours of 7pm-7am. Any hours worked outside of 7pm-7am will not receive the premium.

Essential job functions:
  1. Making fine judgment about color/matching or blending colors.
  2. Ability to make decisions under time pressure, with or without consulting others.
  3. Gathering information from/using instruments, including weighing items and entering information into the computer.
  4. Performing math computations; i.e., applying formulas to calculate percentages, etc.
  5. Accurately counting; ability to use a calculator accurately.
  6. Checking product quality, checking work completed to standard, and checking correct material available.
  7. Handling information and following instructions.
  8. Information / Reporting.
  9. Performing physical tasks, moving drums into and out of storage and mixing inks.
Minimum requirements:
  1. Previous ink technician experience.
  2. Adequate visual color discrimination (Hue Color test).
  3. Ability to learn and use PRISM, SPEC, X-RITE and other data entry software accurately.
  4. Ability to understand and successfully complete the entry level X-RITE training.
