Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be joining a team of dedicated programmers developing technologies to realize Imageworks' creative vision. You will leverage your technical expertise and decision-making skills to advance our development efforts.

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining complex web applications, contributing to architectural decisions, and mentoring junior developers, with a solid understanding of web development principles and practices.

What You'll Do

• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and secure web applications.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Implement front-end and back-end solutions using suitable technologies.
• Conduct code reviews and ensure adherence to standards.
• Troubleshoot and debug complex issues.
• Stay updated on industry trends and best practices, sharing knowledge across studios.
• Participate in architectural discussions and technical decision-making.
• Design and implement robust database schemas.
• Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools.
• Ensure application performance, security, and accessibility.
• Mentor and support associate developers.
• Communicate project updates effectively.

What you bring

• A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent.
• At least five years of experience in infrastructure, software, or related engineering roles.
• Proficiency in web backend programming with Python frameworks like Django and/or FAST API.
• Experience with production tracking software and Autodesk Flow/Shotgun, especially Python/REST API and event processing.
• Experience with web frontend frameworks such as Angular or React, and CSS frameworks.
• Knowledge of additional languages like Java is a plus.
• Experience with Docker, Apache/Nginx, and Kubernetes deployments.
• Strong knowledge of RDBMS/SQL, particularly Postgres.
• Ability to design and implement systems in complex pipelines.
• Excellent mentorship, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Innovative, collaborative spirit, and effective communication skills.
• Calmness under pressure and strategic leadership abilities.
• Ability to communicate complex information clearly across disciplines.
• Desire to share knowledge and push technological boundaries.

The anticipated base salary ranges from $103,200 to $134,000 CAD annually. Benefits include healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSPs, sick and vacation leave, and standard increases, as per company policy. Actual salary depends on qualifications, experience, education, certifications, and location.
