Job description

The Opportunity Mosaic is seeking an Infrastructure Manager to work out of ourNanaimo or Nanoose Bay office on Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

The Role Reporting to the Senior Manager, Planning, Hauling & Forest Protection, the Infrastructure Manager will provide oversight of all physical assets and logging operating infrastructure for Company operations, focusing on continuous improvement and superior results in safety, environmental stewardship, and sustainable management of timberlands. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to :

  • Providing leadership within operations, maintaining high standards in asset management relative to safety, environment, quality, productivity, and cost;
  • Ensuring logging operations infrastructure (roads, bridges, culverts, major crossings, dry land sorts, etc.) are well maintained and in good condition;
  • Supporting operations with roads, bridges, and culvert installations planning and maintenance activities;
  • Assisting the Operations team with short-term and long-term operational plans, annual budgets, contract management systems, negotiating rates, and resolving operational issues;
  • Responsible for planning and managing annual Capital expenditures;
  • Maintaining and fostering good relationships with First Nations, government agencies, and industry players to preserve and enhance the Company’s position within the industry and the overall community; and
  • Developing and implementing asset management strategic initiatives.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Engineering Degree with Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing with the Engineers and Geoscientists BC;
  • Forestry Diploma or Degree with RFT or RPF designation is preferred, but not required;
  • 7+ years of experience in increasingly responsible infrastructure management positions in the forestry sector;
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license or equivalent;
  • Demonstrated ability to execute large capital projects;
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, and lead consultants and staff to execute a wide range of projects simultaneously;
  • Aptitude in Microsoft, ROADENG, GIS, LIDAR, GPS, ARCMAP based mapping and other evolving computer applications is preferred but not required;
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage budgets to meet corporate goals; and
  • Leadership capacity in safety and environmental stewardship.

Compensation The annual salary range for this position is $106,800 to $133,400 Individual compensation is commensurate with skill, relevant experience, and education.
