Note: This hybrid contract role requires three (3) days in office. Candidates must include their full name on their resume and be able to work onsite in Guelph, Ontario.
Description
Deliverables include KTLO, Data Centre Support, Project Refreshes, Decommissioning (Network or Server), Shipping & Receiving, & Starlink Distribution.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance, training, and technical expertise to junior staff.
- Ensure datacentre availability, reliability, efficiency, and uptime.
- Engage internal or external service providers to resolve issues and support datacentre operations.
- Monitor and coordinate work by service providers, ensuring procedures are followed and impacts mitigated.
- Maintain and support IT hardware infrastructure at datacentres.
- Analyze and resolve hardware and server incidents and problems.
- Document and implement infrastructure Change Requests.
- Update incident/problem tickets, report on issues, and maintain the Configuration Management Database.
- Make recommendations for infrastructure enhancements and coordinate hardware decommissioning and disposal.
- Be available for on-call support as needed.
- Possess working knowledge of network topology, security architecture, server build, physical infrastructure, and deployment models.
- Perform server installation and configuration.
Experience
- Knowledge of large-scale shipping and receiving operations.
- Experience with client communication, scheduling, and implementation.
- Understanding of short haul courier processes and operations.
Skills and Evaluation Criteria
Technical Skills (30%):
- Knowledge of shipping/receiving processes, client communication, server building (Windows, Solaris, AIX, Mainframe), networking, security, backup infrastructure, SAN, and Tape Library support.
Problem Solving (15%):
- Ability to troubleshoot complex issues, ensure datacentre uptime, and coordinate support resources.
General Skills (5%):
- Strong documentation, incident resolution, vendor engagement, and support for multiple technical teams. Proficiency with Office 365, Remedy/eSMT.
Must Have
- Experience supporting multiple technical teams.
- Knowledge of V-Centre, VMware, server building/support (Windows, Solaris, AIX, Mainframe).
- Networking support and configuration skills.
- Experience working in Uptime Tier IV & Tier II datacentres.
- Proficiency with Office 365 and ticketing systems like Remedy/eSMT.
