Job summary

City of Courtenay is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer (Asset Management, Modelling & Planning) to advance cross-department infrastructure planning, asset management, and long-range capital decisions.

You will work with Asset Management, Engineering, Operations, Development Services, and Finance to apply hydraulic and infrastructure models, support growth management, and build resilient, sustainable service delivery.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geological Engineering, Geoscience, Hydrogeology, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, Planning, or related field.
  • Diploma in Civil Engineering Technology, Geomatics, Environmental Technology, GIS, Asset Management, or related technical discipline with relevant experience.
  • 3–5 years of municipal engineering, infrastructure planning, asset management, development servicing, consulting engineering, or capital project delivery.
  • Experience with hydraulic, hydrologic, water quality, sewer, transportation, or infrastructure planning models is a strong asset.
  • Experience facilitating meetings, workshops, stakeholder discussions, or interdepartmental teams is a key asset.

Responsibilities

Are you ready to move beyond traditional design engineering? It’s time to join the City of Courtenay as their new Infrastructure Engineer (Asset Management, Modelling & Planning). Reporting to the Manager of Asset Management, you will support Courtenay’s growth by combining technical engineering work, infrastructure modelling, asset management, and cross-departmental leadership into a single role focused on sustainable and resilient service delivery.

What You’ll Bring:

  • 3-5 years of experience in municipal engineering, infrastructure planning, asset management, development servicing, consulting engineering, or capital project delivery.
  • Experience with hydraulic, hydrologic, water quality, sewer, transportation, or infrastructure planning modelsis a strong asset.
  • Experience facilitating meetings, workshops, stakeholder discussions, or interdepartmental teams is a key asset.
