Job description

At Integral, we are obsessed with helping web3 businesses streamline financial processes. We partner with the world's best builders and innovators and enable them to focus on their ultimate goal: building. Traditional financial platforms weren't forged in the decentralized finance arena. Enter Integral, your game-changer, where bookkeeping and treasury visibility become a seamless sprint, even amidst the labyrinth of crypto intricacies. But here's the kicker – we're just getting warmed up.

Are you passionate about designing and maintaining the backbone of highly scalable, secure, and reliable systems? Do you thrive in a hands-on environment, tinkering with Linux internals, debugging complex networks, and automating infrastructure with the latest tooling? If you’re eager to shape the core infrastructure of a cutting-edge fintech platform—and work closely with a stellar team to revolutionize web3 finance—we want to hear from you!

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining infrastructure solutions that ensure the reliability and scalability of our data-intensive fintech systems.
  • Working very closely with Linux—handling everything from CLI troubleshooting to security hardening and firewall configuration.
  • Building and automating processes for networking, containerization, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployments in GCP.
  • Ensuring high database performance and reliability for mission-critical financial data—leveraging Postgres, AlloyDB, and other relational databases.
  • Debugging and optimizing systems at scale—identifying performance bottlenecks, refining configurations, and employing best-in-class monitoring solutions.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams (backend, data, security) to enhance platform reliability and developer productivity.
  • Staying up to date on industry trends, emerging tools, and best practices in cloud infrastructure, security, and DevOps.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in infrastructure / DevOps or related backend engineering roles.
  • Advanced knowledge of Linux internals and command-line tooling; you don’t flinch at compilation errors or system-level debugging.
  • Strong fundamentals in networking —familiarity with OSI / TCP / IP models, traceroute, and packet inspection.
  • Hands-on experience with GCP (or other major clouds), including VPC, GKE, networking, and security configurations.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Pulumi, Terraform) to build, automate, and maintain reliable deployments.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, K8s) and source code management (Git / GitHub).
  • DBA skills: in-depth knowledge of PostgreSQL or AlloyDB—configuration, indexing, scaling, and query optimization.
  • Familiarity with setting up and running large ETL pipelines or complex workflows is a plus.
  • A track record of debugging production issues, optimizing system performance, and implementing robust monitoring and alerting (Datadog or similar).
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills—you enjoy working in startups and have been part of a team during its growth stage.
  • Previous experience at a fintech or building accounting / financial systems is a plus.
  • A love for hands-on, in-office collaboration with other engineers in Toronto (we’ll consider remote across Canada in special cases).

Other important details:

  • Location: Toronto (preferred), remote across Canada considered in special cases.
  • TypeScript (Frontend + Backend), NestJS for backend, vanilla React frontend.
  • Infra: GCP, Docker, Pulumi for IaC, Postgres (with K8s), GitHub + Actions for CI/CD.
  • Full-time, permanent role.
  • Learning and growth opportunities.
  • Attractive equity options to share in Integral’s success.
  • Work alongside a world-class team of entrepreneurs & technologists from Palantir, PayPal, Amazon, Meta, Unity, Shopify, and VMWare.
