We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer to join our team!
Working with the Manager, Airport Planning & Engineering, the Infrastructure Engineer participates in, and champions, YEG’s engineering function to support optimal performance of airport infrastructure from development through to disposal. The Infrastructure Engineer performs administrative and professional engineering work and works within a professional technical team in support of engineering activities in compliance with our Professional Engineering Practice Plan. This role ensures best practices and sound engineering judgement are applied to all engineering activities and ensures compliance with airport and engineering design standards, approved plans and specifications.
Day in the Life
You might be wondering what you can expect during a typical day at work. Every day will bring new opportunities, focusing on key responsibilities, including:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on initiatives and projects requiring engineering involvement, including concept development, cost estimation, and strategic alignment.
- Coordinate and manage external consultant engineering services.
- Provide engineering input on reviews related to engineering design drawings, specifications, project cost estimates and schedules.
- Maintain infrastructure databases and models in collaboration with external consultants.
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations on airport engineering issues, including recommendations based on sound engineering principles and analytics.
- Ensure infrastructure development complies with Federal Ground Lease obligations and Leduc County Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) processes, including professional Engineer/Architect authentication.
- Develop and maintain internal Infrastructure engineering process and procedure documents.
- Participate in commissioning and turnover inspection activities of airport infrastructure projects.
- Support Edmonton Airports Asset Management team with engineering condition assessments of airport infrastructure.
- Support Edmonton Airports leadership teams with strategic infrastructure engineering.
- Contribute to Edmonton Airports capital planning processes by developing short-to-long-term capital plans for infrastructure maintenance and growth.
- Foster strong working relationships with regional Municipal engineering organizations, other airports and with aviation related government and regulatory agencies for airport infrastructure development and planning.
- Participate in capacity assessment and condition assessment programs and initiatives.
- Analyze infrastructure development utility demands and liaise with regional utility partners.
- Support Edmonton Airports Safety and SMS teams with engineering or technical evaluations required for incident investigations.
- Coordinate engineering consultant support for safety audits and infrastructure failure analyses.
- Stay current with regional and industry standards, practices, requirements, and regulatory changes.
You Have:
- Completed post secondary degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical or other appropriate discipline).
- Registration with Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), or ability to obtain registration.
- 3+ years of experience with infrastructure project delivery, engineering design of infrastructure, and/or infrastructure planning related to large facilities or campuses.
- 2+ years of experience working in an airport environment (directly or indirectly) providing familiarity with the physical airport environment and onsite activities.
- Familiarity with legislation, regulations, standards, guidelines, or codes of practice at Federal, Provincial and Municipal levels, relevant to airport operations and infrastructure.
- Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment, with a proven ability to develop and establish relationships at all levels of the organization.
- Strong planning, project management and organizational skills, while using technical judgement.
- Ability to apply infrastructure engineering standards and best practices to solution identification for vaguely defined problems.
- Ability to deliver engineering analyses within tight deadlines and regardless of competing demands.
- Demonstrated skill and experience in establishing priorities, solving problems, and performing sound business analysis and reporting.
- Ability to effectively facilitate meetings and communicate across diverse backgrounds.
- Self-motivation with the ability to influence decisions based on relevant business issues and supporting data.
- Excellent oral, presentation and written communication skills with the ability to present information in a concise, clear, and articulate manner.
- Ability to be flexible, prioritize multiple projects and adapt quickly to change and realign business priorities.
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) with the ability to create various types of technical reports, memos and presentations, as well as other documents such as meeting agenda and minutes.
- Knowledge of budgets, business plans/cases, and cash flow.
- Ability to secure and maintain appropriate airport security clearance and acceptable criminal records check.
- A valid Driver’s License with the ability to obtain an Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit (AVOP).

SALARY: $50.36 - $55.84 per hour (37.5 hours per week)
