Job summary

Accenture Infrastructure & Capital Projects is seeking a Senior Project Cost Control Consultant to lead cost control across large capital programs in a hybrid Vancouver setting.

You will manage budgets, forecasts, risk registers, and cost performance measures while coordinating with project controls, schedule, and finance teams. This role emphasizes leadership, collaboration, and rigorous reporting to deliver value on complex infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience on large capital projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or Finance
  • Registered for and seeking AACE CCP, CEP, PSP, PRMP, EVP, or PMI equivalent
  • Has completed equivalent training or successfully passed designated proficiency testing in lieu of the above

Responsibilities

  • Provide cost control services including budget management, cost tracking, commitment management, accrual management, forecasting, cash flow management, change management support, cost reporting, cost assurance, and cost performance analysis.
  • Provide cost control resources and subject matter expertise at junior, intermediate, senior, lead, and advisory levels to support invoice review and validation, commitment management, payment processing, accruals, forecasting, cash flow management, financial analysis, reporting, and cost assurance activities.
  • Provide quantity surveying services and subject matter expertise including quantity verification, field quantity validation, quantity reconciliation, progress measurement support, productivity assessments, invoice review support, commercial evaluations, change order assessments, and quantity-based performance analysis.
  • Manage procedures and work instructions related to risk and opportunity management
  • Develop a risk breakdown structure aligned with project WBS and CBS
  • Design the human and material resources required to complete risk management services on a project successfully
  • Prepare Risk training materials and train the team on the principle of Risk Management
  • Forecast market trends in risk management and collaborate with team to implement process improvements or efficiencies
  • Provide technical support to the management of project risk through the facilitation of regular risk reviews at the project and program level
  • Maintain risk registers at the project and program level
  • Perform quantitative cost and schedule risk analysis using risk management software and provide interpretation of results
  • Establish detailed project and program risk reports including P50 and P80 cost and schedule risk exposures
  • Clarify with risk owners that mitigation actions are on track
  • Ensure compliance with the risk management plan, procedures, and requirements of the assigned scope of work by all program team members
  • Review contractor progress reports and identify the risks impacting project cost and schedule and reflect them in the risk register
  • Liaise with scheduling to prepare high-level schedules to be used for quantitative schedule risk analysis
  • Collaborate with cost to monitor project contingency utilization and alignment with cost risk exposures
  • Provide input for project and program-level reporting
  • Evaluate risk mitigation effectiveness by consulting with clients, staff
  • Guide and train Risk team
  • Authorize related work and control the delivery of the project per the project plan
  • Monitor staff performance to ensure excellence and adherence to deadlines
  • Clarify and resolve internal quality control checks and issues for the project
  • Define risk management success criteria and disseminate them to involved parties throughout the project life cycle
  • Recommend and manage project and program risk management expectations while delegating and managing deliverables
