Internal Title: Engineering VI
Lead on engineering deliverables for one or more Rail Corridors on the GO Expansion Program, ensuring outcomes align with schedule, scope, and budget.
- Manage Major Civils design packages, coordinating between project teams and reviewing designs for compliance and coordination across disciplines including Civil/Structural, Signalling, Telecoms, Power, SCADA, OCS, Protection and Controls, EMC, Earthing, Human Factors, and Security.
- Engage proactively with client project delivery teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
- Oversee design delivery to IFC, managing schedule, scope, and budget adherence.
- Interact with clients and stakeholders to meet objectives and ensure project success.
- Coordinate with the client PDT to align works with program goals.
- Promote best practices and lead by example for successful program delivery.
- Conduct design reviews to ensure compliance with scope and standards.
- Lead integration meetings and interface discussions.
- Review Primavera P6 schedules, analyze design and construction activities for anomalies.
- Work with Subject Matter Experts to ensure consistent delivery respecting standards, schedule, cost, safety, and quality.
- Manage design risks, resolve issues, and conduct problem-solving activities.
- Identify and analyze hazards and risks.
- Manage activities with high uncertainty regarding solutions or outcomes.
- Engage proactively with stakeholders and propose innovative construction techniques.
- Develop detailed understanding of schemes for effective meetings and interface management.
Working Conditions
Experience
- Minimum of 18 years in multi-discipline railway projects (Signaling, Communications, Track, Mechanical, OCS/OHLE, Civil, Structural).
- Strong experience in technical delivery across program and project levels.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering in relevant discipline.
Licenses or Certifications
- Professional Engineer of Ontario or Chartered Engineer (P.Eng or CEng) and/or membership in key industry professional institutions.
Skills and Competencies
- Deep understanding of construction methods, delivery technologies, planning, and logistics.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency with relevant software (e.g., ProjectWise, Microsoft Office, Autodesk).
- Knowledge of BIM and ability to advise on BIM strategies.
- Ability to identify, solve challenges, and keep stakeholders informed.
- Proven track record in multi-discipline engineering or project management in railway infrastructure.
- Knowledge of systems engineering, requirements management, and safety assurance.
- Understanding of project performance metrics and software.
- Leadership capacity to supervise and develop teams.
