- Monitors the activities of contractors to ensure compliance with project technical requirements
- Ensure that safety and creation as well as maintenance of a safe workplace and environment is the primary consideration and first priority in the delivery of all work
- Reviews contractor’s documentation including risk assessments, method statements and inspection and test plans. Attends necessary inspections of the works on behalf of client
- Monitor’s the contractor’s assurance activities including the resolution of non-conforming items
- Assists construction superintendents and contractors in planning construction methods and procedures. Coordinates and resolves engineering or construction problems with superintendents and contractors
- Interprets design engineering drawings and may prepare construction working drawings for the use of superintendents and contractors as required, including (1) Temporary construction facilities, (2) Field sketches of revisions and additions and preparing “as built” drawings
- Reviews design drawings, related vendor and contractor drawings and installation instructions and studies interference problems
- Verifies contractor’s commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database programs as required
- Reviews field change notices/requests, extra work orders and back charge notices
- Implements project controls tools on the construction site
- Assists in the preparation of cost estimates and reviews project design and engineering bills of materials to ensure their completeness
- Assists in the verification of contractor’s applications for payment
- Reviews updated contractor schedules, as assigned
- Provides input to constructability and lessons learned
- May be required to provide input on employee reviews of assigned subordinate personnel
- Review any non-conformance issues with the contract requirements and construction documents and help draft associated documentation
- Conduct daily site inspections to take photos and record construction activities
- Prepare and submit daily reports to leadership
- Develop complete records and logs of materials, equipment, deliveries, construction progress, and labor used, especially with claims or disputes (potential or actual)
- Notify the Health and Safety Manager of any noted unsafe practices
- Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to support project construction activities
- Administer construction documents and correspondence
- Develop project documents through various phases in support of the manager and team
- Complete any tasks assigned
- Working Conditions
- Experience:
- Minimum of 1 years of experience in Construction Management in the area of specialty or a relevant role
- Experience working in the rail industry and/or large-scale infrastructure is preferred
- Education:
- Bachelor Degree from an accredited university as well as a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant work experience, or 7-9 years relevant experience in the absence of a degree
- Licenses OR Certifications:
- Holding a recognized certification in area of specialty
- Skills and Competencies:
- Effective skills in Microsoft Office
- Proficient in relevant construction-related software
- In-depth understanding of prevailing construction means and methods in relevant area
- Ability to arrange priorities and escalate competing risks to meet deadlines
- Keen eye for detail and adept problem-solving abilities
- Must have demonstrated experience relaying and receiving information (written and verbal)
