Job description

To be responsible for leading and coordinating technical assurance of multiple design packages and physical construction works on large infrastructure projects

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers across multiple workstreams
  • Oversee the end-to-end design and engineering process ensuring alignment with project and broader business goals timelines and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams
  • Drive innovation in design and engineering practices tools and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards safety regulations and company policies
  • Manage project schedules and resource allocation
  • Conduct design reviews risk assessments and technical evaluations
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing

Requirements

  • Experience :

Minimum of 12 years of experience in Engineering area of specialty

  • 10 years of experience in engineering management potentially inclusive of design management
  • Education :

Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering or equivalent field

  • Licenses OR Certifications :

Holding recognized PEng. licensure in the Province of practice

  • Skills and Competencies :

Strong understanding of design principles and engineering methodologies

  • Project management experience on large scale rapid transit projects
  • Experience working with a large team of technical professionals and large-scale contractors
  • Demonstrated experience successfully managing the competing objectives of many external and internal stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience managing and influencing a variety of internal and external stakeholders including municipalities
  • Strong understanding of prevailing Engineering means and methods in the area of specialty
  • Effectively lead a large Engineering team
  • Ability to work creatively and analytically in a problem-solving environment by ensuring effective teamwork promotion of innovation and overall excellence
  • Demonstrated functional acumen to support how solutions will address client goals while maintaining alignment with industry best practices
  • Proven capacity to anticipate identify and minimize risks
  • Expert ability to detect capitalize on and be sensitive to others strengths
  • Tact to perceive and ameliorate conflict and tension
  • Capability to supervise delegate and develop capacity
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office
  • Expert knowledge of applicable Engineering-related software
  • Must maintain professional development to keep abreast of emerging technologies methods and best practices
  • Ability to arrange priorities and escalate competing risks to meet deadlines with minimum input from leadership
  • Keen eye for detail and adept problem-solving abilities
  • Must have demonstrated experience relaying and receiving information (written and verbal)
  • Expert ability to work collaboratively and independently in a structured disciplined technology-driven environment
