Job summary

Accenture Infrastructure & Capital Projects in Toronto is seeking an experienced cost estimator to plan and deliver medium to mega complex estimates for government and infrastructure programs. • Plan appropriate means and methods and perform medium complex estimating assignments for capital and professional services projects. Provide support for large or mega complex estimates
• To ensure cost estimating processes are in place, working closely with client and other stakeholders to provide cost estimates against project requirements.
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice, cost estimating vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
• Analyze and identify key areas of improvement and apply cost estimation techniques to drive cost reductions and aid operational processes and efficiency.
• Review, analyze and understand economic trends and consider risks and cost implications.
• Utilize cost methodologies and tools and appropriate software models and packages to prepare and maintain reliable and accurate cost data.
• Ensure appropriate monitoring, reporting systems and procedures are in place to meet objectives
• Develop criteria for the pricing structures and guide to ensure complete and reasonable pricing
• Formulate discipline estimates and cost presentations, comparisons, and reconciliations
• Participate in the preparation of construction cost estimates throughout all phases of the project
• Verify quantity take-offs
• Support the estimating team in maintaining and trending historical cost data
• Analyze cost breakdowns and price schedules submitted by contractors
• Create and implement cost estimation practices, standards, procedures, and tools
• Ensure project estimates and forecasts reflect current and recent market values
• Complete any tasks assigned by Estimation IV or higher in an efficient and timely manner

HERE’S WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

• Minimum of 10years of consistent cost estimating experience with a strong focus on federal government and infrastructure projects.
• Bachelor’s degree in construction, Engineering, or Architecture required; or any degree with construction/design-related experience.
• Holding recognized P.Eng. licensure or certifications including Certified Engineering Technologist (CET), Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering (AACE), and Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS)
• Seasoned experience inAT and Station Box Works (advanced SRS undergrounds) and Surface Segment advanced works.
• Ability to understand and accurately interpret systems construction documents (drawings, specifications, contracts/general conditions) at all levels of design.
• Significant experience of cost estimating or finance in Rail and Infrastructure projects, including heavy civil construction.
• Strong IT systems knowledge and skills including advanced Excel skills. Estimating software skills an asset.
• Demonstrable track record of adding significant value and optimizing costs.
