The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education is seeking an Information Technology Support Specialist to provide technical support across various locations. The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education (TCRCE) encompasses the three (3) Counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby serving approximately 6100 students in twenty-two (22) schools, composed of 13Elementary Schools, 6 High Schools, 1 Middle School, and 2 Elementary/High Schools.

Position: Information Technology Support Specialist (ITSS)

Reports to: Manager of Technology

Locations: Drumlin Heights, Barrington Municipal High, Forest Ridge, ERMES & Also supporting the Barrington Ops Workshop.

QUALIFICATIONS
● Degree, diploma, or certification in technology;
● Relevant industry certifications;
● Knowledge of wireless networking;
● 1-2 years of experience preferred;
● Broad knowledge of networking and communications;
● Proficiency in network technology (LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS);
● Proficiency in relevant operating systems (Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft Windows 2016 Server, Linux, Macintosh, Mobile OS, etc.);
● Experience with Windows Active Directory;
● Training and experience in the installation of a variety of peripheral devices such as wireless access points, printers, scanners, digital cameras, CCTV, audio equipment, etc;
● Knowledge of computer systems in both education and industry;
● Willingness to undergo additional training as required;
● Valid NS drivers’ license and reliable access to a vehicle;
● Ability to lift up to 50lbs;
● Completion of WHMIS and First Aid, or willingness to obtain upon hire.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

● Implement and maintain information and communications technology. For example:

○ Install, configure, troubleshoot and repair: including, but not limited to, network cabling, connectivity hardware, computer hardware, networks and operating systems;

○ Administer and implement changes in servers, together with their associated operating systems.

● Perform administrative and support functions with regards to technology and the users of technology. For example:

○ Develop and maintain sufficient knowledge of the information technologies used within TCRCE (Tri-County Regional Centre for Education) in order to provide quality technical support to users of those technologies;

○ Maintain appropriate written and electronic records to document any changes made to systems in schools;

○ Complete work orders, surveys and other reports as required and on a timely basis;

○ Provide basic technical instruction to school staff on installed systems;

○ Research and review latest software updates.

● Participate in professional development;

● Performs other duties as required and assigned with the scope of the position.

This is a NSGEU position - 8 hours per day
