As a member of the military, Information Systems Technicians are experts in Information Technologies (IT) who deploy, establish, administer, and maintain multi-platform networking computer environments, and a variety of data and voice networks. They are part of a larger team that provides the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) with communications and information services throughout Canada and around the world. They handle communications and information systems equipment, such as:
Information Systems Technicians experience unique adventures and challenges working outdoors, in military vehicles, and server rooms. They work across the country and internationally wherever the CAF has a presence.
In the Regular Force, after completing all required training, you'll be assigned to your first base with potential relocations. In the Primary Reserve Force, you serve part-time at a local unit, typically one night per week and some weekends, with options for full-time employment. Reservists can serve in their communities and are paid during training.
Initial training includes the Basic Military Qualification course at Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, followed by approximately 12 months of technical training at the Canadian Forces School of Communication and Electronics in Kingston, Ontario, covering:

This position is available for part-time employment in the Primary Reserve at various locations. Reservists serve part-time, can volunteer for deployments, and are paid at 92.8% of Regular Force pay with benefits and pension contributions.
Training for Reserve Force members is similar to that of the Regular Force, with initial basic training followed by occupational training. Most serve evenings and weekends, with some full-time positions available.
