Job description

Be a part of the initial team to grow and operate a regionally significant new underground mine development that is rapidly becoming the future of the iconic Red Lake gold mining district in Ontario, Canada.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, Operations , the successful candidate is responsible for the technical implementation, configuration and ongoing operational health and maintenance of site Operational Technology (OT) infrastructure that includes Process Control (PCS) and Fleet Management (FMS) environments. The successful candidate will write, modify, integrate and test the coding of the software platforms at the operating systems level and communications software level for the Red Lake Madsen Mine.

The focus of this role will include:

•Responsible for various IT functions at the mine site
•Provide daily IT support to the site end users including users set up, network support, troubleshooting, application of software and hardware
•Ensure the site IT network is maintained and functioning
•Assist in developing critical network security infrastructure and operating of data network equipment. Ensure the IT infrastructure is secure
•Ensure a proper setup and configuration of server infrastructure
•Administer various IT systems including Windows Server, Microsoft 365, Active Directory, Remote Desktop, Databases, client workstations.
•Develop IT policies & procedures
•Provide IT risk analysis and ways to mitigate the risk
•Make improvements to the existing IT infrastructure
•Work on on-going, incoming and ad hoc IT projects.
•Provided Technical expertise to the site teams with IT emerging technologies
•Assist in managing IT annual budget
•Other duties as assigned

Skills and Experience:

• Post secondary qualification in IT / Computer Science or related discipline

• Subject Matter Expert (SME) in the area of Data Centre technologies including Servers, Storage, Virtualization, Monitoring/Alerting, Backup and Recovery.
• Demonstrated experience in scripting & automation (e.g. Powershell, Python).
• Understanding of networking technologies would be advantageous.
• Exposure to Process Control Systems highly desirable
• Exposure and experience in safety practices ideally in the mining or the resources industry.
• Excellent communication skills with strong user focus.
• Strong time management & organizational skills - able to prioritize & multitask.
• Proven IT change management, incident and problem management skills.
