About the Role

Our client, a prominent financial services organization with its headquarters in Kimberley, Northern Cape , is seeking an accomplished and strategic Information Security Manager. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of the organization's information security program. You will lead a team of security professionals, manage security risks, ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, and foster a strong security-aware culture throughout the company. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of cybersecurity principles, risk management, and team leadership, combined with strong communication and strategic planning abilities. This is a critical role ensuring the protection of sensitive financial data and the integrity of operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the overall information security strategy and roadmap for the organization.
• Lead, mentor, and manage the information security team, fostering professional growth and high performance.
• Oversee the implementation and operation of security controls, policies, and procedures across all IT systems.
• Manage the information security risk assessment process, identifying, analyzing, and mitigating risks.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial industry regulations and data privacy laws (e.g., POPIA, FICA).
• Develop and manage the information security budget and resource allocation.
• Lead the incident response planning and execution for security breaches and cyberattacks.
• Oversee security awareness training programs for all employees.
• Evaluate and recommend new security technologies and solutions to enhance the organization's security posture.
• Act as the primary point of contact for information security matters for senior management, auditors, and regulators.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in information security, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing comprehensive information security programs.
• Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, security best practices, and regulatory compliance in the financial sector.
• Experience with security technologies such as SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, DLP, and endpoint protection.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Relevant security management certifications (e.g., CISM, CISSP) are highly preferred.
• Experience working with IT governance frameworks like COBIT.
• Ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
