Who we need

Reporting to the University Librarian (UL), we are hiring an Information Literacy Librarian (ILL) for a 13-month contract. In this role, you will design and deliver tailored library services, instruction, and academic support across both on-campus and online learning environments. You will lead the library’s information literacy programming, collaborating with Student Success Librarians as needed to expand its reach and impact. By working closely with faculty, students, and staff, you will play a key role in advancing teaching, learning, and research initiatives, ensuring the library meets the university community’s evolving information and research needs.

This is a 13-month contract, hybrid role, working 2-3 days per week onsite at our campus in New Westminster.

As our Information Literacy Librarian, you will :

  • Be a trusted advisor. You will be a go-to source of information and expertise, supporting students, faculty, and staff. You will answer research and reference questions, deliver instruction onsite and online, and guide users in navigating information resources. Every day will bring variety as you balance instructional sessions, respond to service requests, develop library resources, attend curriculum meetings, and support logistics such as textbook management.
  • Deliver comprehensive information literacy programming. You will design, develop, and lead instructional programs and resources for a diverse range of academic programs across Yorkville University and Toronto Film School. In partnership with the University Librarian, you will coordinate the instructional activities of the Student Success Librarians (SSL) to provide targeted support in areas such as bibliographic software, database research, APA citation, and artificial intelligence tools. You will also create engaging video tutorials, library guides, and digital learning materials to enhance accessibility and improve student and faculty experiences.
  • Analyze data. You will establish and track key metrics, gather feedback, and prepare reports to evaluate the effectiveness of information literacy programming, aligning with library instruction standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate. You will regularly engage in activities like reviewing course syllabi, collaborating with curriculum design, attending curriculum committee meetings, etc., to identify and assess student needs. You will participate in university-wide initiatives, including serving on key university committees, regulatory meetings, and other special projects as assigned.
  • Deliver library services. You will promote information literacy and other library services on-campus and online. You will provide reference and research support in person and online via email, phone, video (e.g., Teams or Zoom) and / or the ASK YU / TFS service request system. You will lead library orientations (and other social and academic events) across campus classes, focusing on on-campus and online delivery methods. You will serve as the primary library liaison for undergraduate, graduate, or subject specializations.
  • Optimize. You will research emerging trends and scholarship in higher education to inform library instructional strategies, student success, and assessment standards (e.g., Artificial Intelligence tools). You will contribute to a positive organizational culture that supports equity, inclusion, learning, and wellness.

You have :

  • The education and experience. You have a Master’s in Library and Information Science (ALA-accredited). You have an academic and practical understanding of the ACRL Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education (and / or other frameworks relevant to librarianship and adult education). You have experience managing library staff to ensure smooth daily operations. You have demonstrable experience designing, producing, and assessing library instructional content on the job or through graduate-level coursework.
  • The technical and research skills. You are familiar with the American Psychological Association (APA) citation style. You can organize workflow and manage multiple projects. You have in-depth knowledge of best practices in information literacy instruction. You are comfortable with library and educational software such as Brightspace, LibGuides, EBSCO Discovery, Zotero, and Microsoft 365. You are proficient in videoconferencing tools (Teams, Zoom, etc.) for online orientation.

Compensation : Base salary is $75-80K annually, adjusted for the length of the contract.
